HSBC new payee scam texts are being sent from various spoof UK mobile phone numbers. These texts contain a message warning that a payment from your HSBC account has been made to a new payee. There is a link to a scam website accompanying the message.

The website included in the message from +44 7960 250167 is to a domain called https://mytransfers-resolve-issue(.)info/hsbc This is clearly not the real HSBC website: www.hsbc.co.uk

In fact the domain mytransfers-resolve-issue(.)info was only registered on the 27th October 2020. It is hosted by Namecheap, a popular host with scammers.

The site is designed to look like the real HSBC website in the hope that visitors will feel confident in inputting their personal and bank details. Anyone who does this will be at risk of fraud.
