The Forestry Commission works actively to promote conservation and biodiversity in England and Scotland, working closely with HMRC they also supervise and manage the timber production industry, helping set taxes and deciding which woodlands should be protected. They also work to ensure that a certain percentage of England and Scotland’s forested areas can be accessed by the general public for leisure activities. On top of this they also fund and carry out research which helps inform local and national government policy on the best way to protect trees and natural areas.
