The Forestry Commission works actively to promote conservation and biodiversity in England and Scotland, working closely with HMRC they also supervise and manage the timber production industry, helping set taxes and deciding which woodlands should be protected. They also work to ensure that a certain percentage of England and Scotland’s forested areas can be accessed by the general public for leisure activities. On top of this they also fund and carry out research which helps inform local and national government policy on the best way to protect trees and natural areas. They also have strong links with their counterparts Natural resources Wales.

Forestry Commission reporting disease or invasive species

Residents of the UK can report invasive species that are harmful to UK trees by phoning 0300 067 4442 or by email on opm@forestrycommission.gov.uk. For example you can report diseases such as Ash Dieback using this number. You should also phone this number to report Oak Processionary moth sightings.
