The UK mobile phone number 07904917314 is being used by scammers to send texts targeting Halifax bank customers. The texts contain a link to a malicious website called halifax.cancel-payee.link

This text from the number 07904917314 was reported on the 21st October 2020:

Halifax: Scheduled payment to H Khamil confirmed on 20/10 at 12.14. If this was not you, please cancel the instruction now: halifax.cancel-payee.link

How does this scam work?

The scammers send texts out of the blue to UK mobile phone owners from the number 07904917314. The text contains a warning that a payment has been scheduled from a Halifax bank account to H Khamil. The message then advised to cancel the instruction by visiting the website halifax.cancel-payee.link

Although the domain Halifax Cancel Payee Link is clearly not the real Halifax website, this spoof website is designed to look just like the real thing. In fact the real domain for this scam website is cancel-payee.link which was only set up on the 20th October 2020;

The halifax. part of this website is actually just a subdomain of the website halifax.cancel-payee.link

The subdomain contains a page that is designed to look just like the real Halifax website. Just like the real Halifax website the scam page halifax cancel payee.link has login options inviting you to input your personal and bank details. However, unlike on the real Halifax website any details you input will be stored and then used by scammers to commit fraud against you.
