The telephone number 07898499233 has been reported on Twitter as in use by scammers operating in the UK. They are using this number to impersonate a call from HMRC. Unlike HMRC they are making their initial contact by phone and are using threats. If you receive a call from this number then you should not answer.
This is typical of scams in which threats and intimidation are used to try to get UK residents to pay a HMRC fine that does not exist. Avoid any contact with this number. If you have already answered the phone then hang up immediately.

What should I do if I get a call from 07898499233?
Do not answer the phone. At most take a screen shot and then delete the number and block further contact. You can report to HMRC by emailing phishing@hmrc.gov.uk or by phone on 60599.
