A call from Bolton was reported on the 5th October 2020, in which scammers pretended to represent BT. They offered to do some work on the recipient’s internet speed. It is likely that they actually wanted to get access to his internet and devices so that they could steal personal and banking information for the purposes of fraud.
The number 01204 705642 is not a BT number. If you receive call from this number you should either not answer or, if you have already answered, hang up immediately. You can also report any BT scams on their report form.
Had a call from a man claiming to be from @bt_uk offering to help me with an issue with my internet speed. I have good reason to suspect it is not entirely genuine. 🙄😡🤬
