WARNING – SCAM NUMBER 07487258599
The telephone number 07487 258599 is being used as part of a HMRC scam targeting UK citizens. If your receive a phone call or a text from this number then do not respond.
Below is an example of a Twitter user who reported receiving a communication from +44 7487 258599 on the 7th September 2020. On this occasion it was a text with a link to a malicious website named securereturn.co.uk

How does this scam work?
People are sent a text to their mobile phones suggesting that they are due a rebate from HMRC. In order to get this rebate ‘caculated and claimed’ they are directed to a scam site. On this occasion the site is securereturn.co.uk
This site is registered with Namecheap in the USA, a popular hosting company among scammers. The site is designed to look just like the actual HMRC website, so that potential victims feel comfortable inputting their personal and bank details.
In fact any information provided on this site will be used by scammers.
What should I do if I receive a text from 07487258599?
Do not reply to any communication from this number it is being used to scam people. There was a recent HMRC fraud case in Canterbury in September 2020 in which a couple lost £15,000. Be careful. Don’t answer the phone.
