Beware this telephone number has been used for scam phone calls to BT landline telephone numbers. If you get a telephone call from the landline number 01583 476888 then put the phone down and do not call back.
The callers pretend to be phoning from BT to tell the customers that there is an issue with the router. They also suggest there has been fraudulent activity on your device or computer. In fact it the callers who hope to commit fraud against you. To do this they wish you to give them the login details for your computer or request permission to access your computer remotely.
Do not give them the opportunity to do this. Put the phone down immediately and report to BT – Report – Scam – Call.
@bt_uk morning. Have received a call from 01583 476888 saying that there are issues with my router and fraudulent activity. When I said fine, the man shouted at me and I hung up suspecting fraudulent contact. Are you aware of this activity?
